The history of our Charleston hotel itself comprises a significant part of the area's exciting past. Originally named The Pavilion Hotel (circa 1830), it was the gathering spot of area artists, writers and craftsmen. Edgar Allen Poe chose our historic Charleston inn as his weekly retreat while a soldier stationed at Fort Moultrie. Today The King Charles Inn maintains this significant historical ambiance, while providing its guests with premium services and amenities.

Each of our 91 guest rooms are now appointed with luxurious, dark wood furniture, and new Simmons Beauty Rest mattresses with plush bedding. We have also added refrigerators in all guest rooms and are in the process of adding in room safes as well as flat screen televisions and iPod docking stations.Please note that between August 4th - September 15th we will be remodeling 30 additional rooms with new walls, ceilings, bathrooms and carpeting. The final remodeling phase of 30 rooms will be under renovation from December 1, 2008 - February 15, 2009.
